Hearted from: ...
I was pro-life most of my life, it wasn’t until the last few years that my views really changed. Being from a Christian family I was taught that abortion was a sin, it was this big horrible thing and blah blah blah. Don’t get me wrong, I still don’t think it’s really a good thing. I personally don’t think I’d ever get an abortion. But that’s my personal choice. I’ve realized that not everyone has to agree with you, not everyone has to do what I do. They have their personal choices too. I don’t eat tomatoes. Does that mean no one else in the country can eat tomatoes? Nope, it doesn’t. Why should my opinion on one thing stop others from doing what they want to do? It shouldn’t.
No worries, those of you reading this with some arguments in mind, I picked out a few that either I used to say, or I have recently seen.
“God created everyone for a reason, that person was meant for something important”
I believe just as God takes the life of an infant for whatever the reason, and people are okay with that, it’s the same with abortion. Going on the premise that the fetus is a living human, God wouldn’t allow that human to die unless it was part of his plan. He’s created millions of miracles, he could easily save the life of that baby. So in this case, I suppose it must all be part of his plan.
“You say women should have the choice to have an abortion, but nobody thinks about the baby’s choice”
Baby’s don’t make choices for themselves. Do you ask a 5 month old what they want to wear? Do you let a 3 year old decide what to eat for dinner? No. The parents make the decisions for the child until it’s of proper age. Therefore I find this argument to be invalid.
“I don’t believe in abortion/It’s against my religion”
I can’t get over the fact that this is a legit argument. Not everyone believes what you believe!! In a country with religious freedom, people are allowed to believe what they choose to. You’re personal decisions/choices/opinion/beliefs shouldn’t decide other’s.
“They don’t have to abort, they could just put the child up for adoption”
Adoption is a great option. It’s great when you know the family and feel comfortable giving them your baby and know that they’ll be alright. But that is hardly always the case. There are SO many children in foster homes, going from house to house, whom, if not adopted, are kicked out of the program and left to fend for themselves at 18. Kids getting abused. Children feeling horrible about themselves because their parents didn’t want them and dropped them off at some orphanage. I mean, are you aware how much it costs to adopt a child? Tens of thousands of dollars. It’s ridiculous. And most people wanting to adopt want health little babies. What about the kids with medical issues? What about the older kids? Putting a child up for adoption is not always better than having an abortion. *Please note that I did say NOT ALWAYS, that doesn’t mean never.
One more thing before I stop. This is going to sound harsh and cruel, but think about it as simply numbers, not like, actual lives. The world is overpopulated. If no one had abortions, there would probably be another billion people in the world. And, lets be real, with all the people starving, homeless, jobless… that’s just more people out on the streets. Also, I read an article recently interviewing women, these women explaining why they think abortions should not become banned. Because like, they live in these horrible places, they don’t have money, or space, or any resources for a child. Does this mean they shouldn’t be allowed to make love with their partners, their husbands or wives? Because you know, birth control and condoms aren’t 100%.
Okay, that is all.
*Edit: Well now, because half the people who read this are fucktards, I have to explain the obvious. Clearly, I’m a teenager with a blog, and I’m not going to punch you if you disagree with me. Actually I couldn’t care less if you disagree. I’m sure their are plenty of valid arguments against what I’ve said. But I am not in the mood for debating, or listening to them. So don’t tell me. If you’d like a further explanation of this, please go to the post I did not too long after this one. Kthanks. http://makafo.tumblr.com/post/22272308711/well-shit
It’s SO disrespectful. These people died. No matter how “stupid” the cause of death is, they are still dead. Think about their families and friends. How would they feel seeing a show make fun of the way their loved one died? I just think it’s horrible. Who knows, maybe it’s just me.
